Who we are
Founder of the Somatic Arts Center
Madeleine Balcom
LCMHC, E-RYT 200 (500 RYT)
Somatic therapist and movement educator, Madeleine, brings poetic metaphor, humor, research, practical tools and ancient wisdom to the classes, workshops, and retreats she offers. She teaches Prana Flow Yoga which is a form of vinyasa yoga based on the wisdom of the Shakti (feminine) lineage that includes the subtle/energetic body as well as the physical body. These effective embodiment practices invite students to use breath as a guide to activate the creative spark of pleasure within movement. Madeleine has been teaching yoga for over 20 years.
Madeleine strives to create a learning environment that builds community and offers a safe space to explore modifications that support people of all bodies and abilities. Her classes will loosen up your muscles and invite your breath and heart to dance with the pulse of life.
Madeleine also practices as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor at Mind Body Counseling LLC in St Johnsbury Vermont. She is registered with the Yoga Alliance as an experienced teacher and has completed 500 hours of Teacher Training as well as continuing her studies in Prana Flow Yoga with Shiva Rea at the Samudra School for Living Yoga.
